This week Nora made us laugh 3 times – just by saying something that she didn’t even intend to be funny.

On Monday Mark told us at dinner that Jim (his former boss) told him to tell Happy Holidays to us. Nora asked: “Did Ms. Doreen (her GYM teacher) also say that?” It took us a few seconds to understand that she thought that the GYM was sending us “his” greetings.

On Wednesday she had to finish a cup of yogurt which she had opened. When daddy saw her in front of her Advent Calendar (filled with chocolate) instead of the table he asked: “Nora, did you finish your yogurt?” She replied: “Yes.” Daddy: “Are you LYING?” Nora: “No, I am sitting.”

On Thursday I took her on a walk in the neighborhood. She pointed at a house and asked me (in Hungarian): “Mami, who lives there?” I said: “I don’t know those people.” She replied: “Then they are nervous (idegeSek).” What she meant to say was: strangers=idegeNek.

A heten Norika 3-szor is megnevettetett minket valamivel, amit nem is szant viccesnek. Az elso ketto angolul hangzott el, a harmadik magyarul.

Hetfon Mark a vacsoranal mondta nekunk, hogy a regi fonoke Jim (Dzsim) udvozol minket. Nori megkerdezte, hogy Doreen neni (a tornatanarnenije) is udvozol-e minket akkor. Egy par masodpercbe tellett mire rajottunk, hogy miert kerdezte ezt. A tornaterem angolul gym (dzsim), tehat ugyanugy van kiejtve mint a ferfi nev. Azt hitte, hogy a tornaterem kuldte udvozletet.

Szerdan kinyitott egy joghurtot, de nem akarta megenni. Mondtuk neki, hogy ha kinyitotta, akkor be kell fejeznie. Nehany perc mulva Nori az Advent naptar elott uldogelt (ami tele van csokival). Mark leszolt neki az emeletrol, hogy megette-e a joghurtot. Azt valaszolta, hogy igen. Erre Mark megkerdezte tole: Hazudsz (are you lying)? Nori valasza: nem, ulok. Ugyanis az Are you lying mondat azt is jelenti, hogy fekszel?

Csutortokon setalni mentunk este. Nori ramutatott egy hazra es megkerdezte: Ki lakik itt anyu? Azt valaszoltam, hogy nem ismerem oket. Erre Nori: akkor ok biztos idegeSek (idegenek).

We had our Holiday Program at the preschool tonight. The children performed some songs, played on musical instruments, had a small play and played a Swedish holiday game. Even though the room was very crowded, everybody enjoyed the program.

Ma volt az ovodankban a karacsonyi musorunk. A gyerekek enekeltek, zeneltek, egy kis szindarabot adtak elo es egy sved unnepi jatekot jatszottak el. Nagyon sokan voltunk a teremben, de mindenki elvezte a programot.

On December 9th Nora was part of the Hungarian St. Nicholas celebration. We had been learning a poem and lots of songs for this occasion and she was very excited about meeting St. Nicholas. On the night of the 5th he had already left some gifts for her in her boot that was left in the windowsill, but Nora was very sad that she couldn’t see him. Sunday morning she told us that she would give St. Nicholas a big hug and a kiss for her presents.
Nora told her poem twice during rehearsals, but didn’t want to do it during the program. She did sing and nicely sat through the whole program. Her eyes lit up when St. Nicholas entered the room and sat very close to her. When it was time for her to sit on St. Nicholas’ lap she gave him a big hug and told him how she couldn’t see him earlier the week because it was dark when he came. A bit later, after everybody received their gifts, she went back to St. Nicholas and told her poem just to him.
We were very touched by her innocence and strong belief.

December 9-én Nórika résztvett a magyar Mikulás ünnepségen. Tanultunk egy verset és sok-sok éneket erre az alkalomra és Nórika nagyon izgatottan várta, hogy személyesen is láthassa Mikulást. Vasárnap reggel mondta nekünk, hogy délután meg fogja ölelni a Télapót a kedden hagyott ajándékokért is.
A próba során Nóri kétszer is elmondta a versét, de a program alatt szégyenlős lett. De minden éneket elénekelt a gyerekekkel és szépen végigülte az egész programot.
A szemei nagyon felcsillantak amikor meglátta Mikulást bejönni. Mikor őt hívták ki hozzá, az ölébe ült és nagyon megölelte. El is mesélte neki, hogy 5-én már túl sötétben jött és akkor nem tudta megköszönni az ajándékokat. Később magától visszament még hozzá és elmondta a megtanult versét is.
