After Nora got a new bicycle for her 5th birthday, we went out for a test ride. Her last bike only had coaster brakes, but the new one has a handle brake as well. I asked her if she knew what it did, to which she said, “Of course, it pauses the bike!”

When we asked Nora what she liked about going to Papa and Tutu’s house, she stated:

“I get to watch a lot of shows…”

“I get to hold the cat…”

“I can dress up…”

“I can eat lots of snacks…”

“I can help clean Papa’s shop..”

So I said that she can clean our garage, to which she replied:

“But Papa has a sawdust machine!”

Nora found a bug in the bathroom. After she squashed it, she came out exclaiming:

“I deaded it!”

We also toasted some coconut for a desert. She really liked it, and said:

“You should make this more aweful…” (instead of often)

Today at dinner, I asked Nora – “Why is your eye blue?”

She said – “Because it is supposed to be!”

(She didn’t remember about the paint…)

Leaning some of life’s fundamentals on the Nintendo..,

Nórika nagyon szereti Bartos Erika és Marék Veronika könyveit. Mindketten rendkívül jól írnak (és rajzolnak) ennek a korosztálynak. Miután elolastunk néhányat ezek közül, kérdeztem Nórit, hogy nem akar-e rajzolni. Elővette a rajzeszközeit, de nem tudta, hogy mit rajzoljon. Javasoltam, hogy a csúnya kislányt (Marék Veronika könyvéből.) Nóri magához vette a könyvet, majd ezzel a rajzzal jött vissza; nekem a legjobban a szempillák tetszenek.

Nora has a few favorite Hungarian writers whose books she loves to revisit. After reading some of these today she drew the above picture of one of the characters, the ugly girl. I love the eyelashes.

Ma itt volt nálunk egész nap Nóri egyik osztálytársa, Anthony. Ő egy hónappal fiatalabb mint Nóri és nagyon sok mindenben hasonlítanak egymásra (többek között abban, hogy az ő anyukája is európai, lengyel). Nagyon szépen játszottak együtt egész nap, sőt még pihentek is együtt délután ami Nórinak a legjobban tetszett; beraktam két hálózsákot Nóri hálószobájába a földre és ott “kempingeztek”. Nekem az tetszett a legjobban, amikor a játék konyhában Anthony főzött Nórinak, tálalt neki, majd ő is leült vele enni. Nagyon édesek voltak.

Today we had one of Nora’s classmates with us all day long. Anthony is a month younger than Nora and they have many similarities (her mom is from Europe too, Poland, just to mention one). They played very nicely together all day long and they even took a nap together which was Nora’s most favorite part of the day; I put 2 sleeping bags in Nora’s bedroom and they “camped out”. My favorite moment was when Anthony cooked for Nora in the play kitchen, served her, then he sat down too to eat with her. They were really cute.

“Daddy, amikor nagy leszek én is ihatok sört? Mami, amikor olyan nagy leszek mint Te, nekem adod a magassarkú cipődet és a csillogós ruhádat? Daddy, amikor felnövök az enyém lehet a cipőd?”

Reménykedjünk, hogy ez az utolsó kérés nem teljesül be …. Daddy-nek 45-ös lába van. Bizony nehéz lenne női cipőt ilyen méretben találni.

“Daddy, when I grow up can I drink bear too? Mommy, when I’ll be as big as you are can I have your high heel shoes and your sparkly dress? Daddy, when I am a grown up will you give me your shoes?”

Let’s hope that this last wish doesn’t come true …. daddy’s feet are size 12 and it is pretty difficult to find women’s shoes in that size.
