Nórinak ma volt az első táncórája. Itt a városban találtunk egy táncstúdiót, kipróbáljuk a nyárra. A tánctanárnő tetszett, aranyos volt a gyerekekkel, de ugyanakkor nagyon jó fegyelmet tartott. Az óra első felében balettet tanultak, a másikban step táncot. Csak üvegen keresztül tudtam fényképezni, de itt egy pár kép az első óráról:

Today was Nora’s first dance class. We are trying out a dance studio here, in town for the summer. I liked the teacher, she was very nice with the children but she was also very strict. In the first half of the class they learned ballet steps, in the second half step dance.

Nórika nagyon szereti Bartos Erika és Marék Veronika könyveit. Mindketten rendkívül jól írnak (és rajzolnak) ennek a korosztálynak. Miután elolastunk néhányat ezek közül, kérdeztem Nórit, hogy nem akar-e rajzolni. Elővette a rajzeszközeit, de nem tudta, hogy mit rajzoljon. Javasoltam, hogy a csúnya kislányt (Marék Veronika könyvéből.) Nóri magához vette a könyvet, majd ezzel a rajzzal jött vissza; nekem a legjobban a szempillák tetszenek.

Nora has a few favorite Hungarian writers whose books she loves to revisit. After reading some of these today she drew the above picture of one of the characters, the ugly girl. I love the eyelashes.

We took a 4-day trip to San Diego. This was the first time for all of us, and we chose this destination because we had seen a program about a Mexican restaurant which we wanted too try.
We arrived early Friday morning and we were able to check in the hotel at 9am instead of 4pm. We were very happy with our hotel (Hampton Inn) because the staff was very friendly, the location was great for using public transportation and Nora loved the pool. We took the trolley and a bus to the San Diego Zoo. We had very high expectations for the Zoo since everybody raves about it. We were very disappointed; for us the Denver Zoo is much nicer, because it is more about the animals and not the tourists. It was very expensive, crowded and hot. The only part we liked was the children’s zoo where Nora could actually see and pet some animals.
Egy négynapos útra mentünk San Diego, Kaliforniába. Először jártunk ott, és azért ezt választottuk, mert a TV-ben láttunk egy műsort egy mexikói étteremről és ki szerettük volna próbálni.
Pénteken reggel érkeztünk meg és sikerült szobát kapnunk reggel 9-kor délután 4 helyett. Nagyon meg voltunk elégedve a hotelünkkel (Hapton Inn) mert a személyzet nagyon kedves volt, helyileg nagyon közel volt a villamoshoz és Nórika imádta a medencét. Pénteken egy villamossal és egy busszal elmentünk az Állatkertbe. Nagyon sokat vártunk tőle, mert világhíres. Ezzel szemben nagyon csalódtunk benne, mert szerintünk a denveri állatkert szebb, az inkább az állatokért van és nem a túristákért. Nagyon drága is volt, zsúfolt és meleg. Az egyetlen rész ami tetszett nekünk az a Gyerek Állatkert rész volt, mert ott legalább Nóri is láthatta az állatokat és meg is simogathatott néhányat.

Some more Zoo pictures can be viewed here (további képek). Back at the hotel Nora and Mark tried the pool out, and only in a few minutes Nora started putting her face and head in the water. A hotelben Mark és Nóri kipróbálták a medencét, és néhány percen belül Nóri elkezdte az arcát és fejét a víz alá rakni.

The second day we took a ferry to Coronado Island, walked around, checked out the beach and had nice lunch. A második napon egy révvel átmentünk Coronado szigetre, sétáltunk, megnéztük a strandot, és ebédeltünk.

At the hotel it was time for the pool again – this time I took pictures too of Nora putting her head underwater and staying there for 10 seconds and also of jumping in the water.
A hotelben ismét a medencéhez mentünk, és most le is fényképeztem Nórit ahogy a fejét a víz alá rakta és még ott is maradt 10 percig. Bele is ugrott a vízbe.

The third day was really fun; we visited Sea World which was awesome. Our bus arrived exactly at 9am when it opened. For about an hour and a half the place wasn’t crowded at all and we enjoyed looking at animals up close.
A harmadik nap nagyon klassz volt; Sea World-be (Tenger Világ) mentünk. A buszunk pontosan 9-re, a nyitásra érkezett meg. Körülbelül másfél órán át nem voltak sokan és jó volt hogy az állatokat közelről láthattuk.

Nora (in the purple hat) almost touched a dolphin. Nóri (a lila sapkában) majdnem hozzáért egy delfinhez.

The highlight of the day for Nora was getting a bucketful of cotton candy. Nórinak a legjobban az tetszett, hogy kapott egy doboznyi vattacukrot.

We watched 3 shows: the Shamu show, Cirque de Mar and the Dolphin show. They were all very well done and entertaining.
3 előadást néztünk meg: a Shamut (bálna), egy akrobatát és egy delfint. Mindhárom nagyon jól volt megcsinálva és érdekesek voltak.

After Sea World we went to the Mexican restaurant (El Indio) we had seen on TV. The food was great.
Sea World után elmentünk abba a mexikói étterembe (El Indio) amit a TV-ben láttunk. Nagyon finom volt a kaja.

Late afternoon we went for a walk by the bay and we experienced the smog of San Diego.
Késő délután elmentünk sétálni a partra, és láttuk a hírhedt levegőszennyeződést.

We also watched the beautiful sunset.
A naplementét is megcsodáltuk.

On the last day of the trip we took an hour long boat trip in the bay. The weather was pretty hazy, but it was still nice. We saw some sea lions and we also went by the naval base of Coronado Island.
Az utolsó napon egy órás hajóutra mentünk az öbölben. Eléggé párás volt az idő, de így is szép volt. Láttunk néhány oroszlánfókát és a Coronado szigeten lévő hadi támaszpont mellett is elmentünk.

This ship is a museum. Ez egy múzeum.

After we checked out the from hotel we spent the rest of the afternoon in a place called Seaport Village and listened to some live music. We also had an early dinner in a great seafood restaurant called the Fish market.
Miután kijelentkeztünk a hotelből, a nap többi részét a parton töltöttük egy helyen, amit Seaport Village-nek hívnak. Élő zenét hallgattunk. Vacsoráztunk is egy tengeri ételeket felszolgáló étteremben.

Nórit beirattuk egy 8 napos úszótanfolyamra azzal a céllal, hogy remélhetőleg a végére sikerül a fejét teljesen a víz alá tennie. Szerencsére nagyon élvezte a vizet és az oktatást is.
We enrolled Nora in an 8-day swimming class hoping, that she would learn to put her head underwater. She really enjoyed both the water and the classes.

Nagyon tetszett neki az úszótanár is – “a haja és az fürdőruhája”.
She also had a crush on the swimming instructor – she liked his “hair and swimming suit”.

Nagyon próbálta a fejét a víz alá rakni, de csak ennyire sikerült – ami persze nagyon nagy teljesítmény volt.
Nora really tried to put her head underwater but she could only do this much – although this was a huge achievement for her.

Kb. 3 hete Nóri felvett egy új szokást.
Amikor lefektetjük az ágyába Daddytől kap egy utolsó puszit, és ő kimegy a szobából. Én maradok egy-két percre és csiklandozom a bőrét. Aztán elindulok ki a szobából amikor is ő belekezdi:
- Jó éjszakát Mami! És jó napot is! És aludj jól! És mi van még? (Akkor súgok neki.) Álmodj szépeket!
- Köszönöm, és Te is. Ekkor kilépek a szobából.
- SZÍVESEN! – kiabálja Nóri. SZÍVESEN MAMI! Ekkor meg kell megint köszönnöm azt, hogy a szívesent mondta. Ha nem köszönöm meg, akkor a következő néhány percben ugyanezeket kiabálja torka szakadtából amíg tudomásul nem veszem és nem válaszolok.

In the past 3 weeks Nora has started a new nighttime thing. When we put her to bed Daddy gives her a last kiss and he leaves. I stay for another 1-2 minutes and tickle her skin. Then I start walking out her room when she quickly starts telling me:
- Good night Mommy! And have a good day too! And sleep tight! What else? (I whisper to it to her.) Nice dreams!
- Thank you and I wish the same. I step out of her room.
- YOU’RE WELCOME! – she yells. YOU’RE WELCOME, MOMMY! At this point I have to thank her again for saying you’re welcome to me. If I don’t, she will yell these same greetings over and over again until I finally react to them.

Tegnap este NAGYON buszkek voltunk Norira. A furdes kozben eloszedtem a betuit, amivel jatszani szoktunk. De ahelyett, hogy csak a hangokat kerdeztem volna, csinaltam beloluk egy 3 betus angol szot. Csodak csodajara, miutan egyenkent megmondta a hangokat, ossze is olvasta oket. Persze adtam neki sorban a tobbit is, igy ilyen szavakat olvasott ki (angolul): cat (macska), dog (kutya), hat (kalap), mat (matrac), bib (eloke), hot (forro), Zack (egy fiu nev) es meg sok mast. Magyarul ezeket: ho, bab, es meg egy parat. Nagyon orulunk, hogy ilyen gyorsan megertette, hogy kell osszeolvasni hangokat.

Last night we were VERY proud of Nora. During her bath I took her letters out with which we usually play. Instead of just asking her the sounds, I showed her a 3 letter English word; after she said all the sounds individually, she blended them into a word! Of course, I started making more and more words for her, and she read more than 10: cat, dog, hat, mat, bib, hot, Zack, etc. We are so glad that blending sounds comes this easy to her.

On Sunday, January 20th we took Nora to her first bowling. She really enjoyed it, especially the first game – then she got a little tired. This bowling alley had both the guards and a special metal guide for children so that she did not have to throw the ball. We will definitely try this again.

Januar 20-an elvittuk Norit bowlingra eleteben eloszor. Nagyon elvezte, foleg az elso jatekot, aztan mar egy kicsit faradt volt. Ebben a bowling helyben az volt a jo, hogy a palya szelere felhuztak a vedokaput es a gyerekeknek adtak egy fem labda vezetot is, igy Norinak nem kellett dobnia a labdat. Ide meg biztosan megyunk majd maskor is.

This past weekend we had a great weekend get-away to Glenwood Springs, CO. This place is in the mountains, about 3.5 hours west of Denver, and has the world’s largest hot spring water pool. The whole weekend was a blast; this time the hotel was nice too, we had wonderful weather, good food, and the pool was very nice too. The most important thing this weekend was that Nora was able to swim by herself just with the assistance of floaties on her arms. She still doesn’t want to put her head in the water, but she has started blowing bubbles and will put her face underwater for a second once in a while.

Az elmúlt hétvégén egy klassz kis kiruccanásunk volt Glenwood Springsbe Kolorádóban. Ez a hely kb. 3 és fél órára van Denvertől nyugatra, a hegyekben, és a világ legnagyobb gyógyvizi medencéje van ott. Az egész hétvége nagyon jól sikerült; ezúttal a hotel is jó volt, remek időnk volt, finom ételek és egy kellemes medence. A legfontosabb dolog a hétvégén az volt, hogy Nórika egyedül úszott a nagy medencében, csak karúszók segítségével. Még mindig nem akarja a fejét víz alá tenni, de már buborékot tud fújni és néha egy pillanatra az arcát is beteszi a víz alá.

Nora received her first computer today. We’ve only loaded some easy games on it. From the pictures it is pretty obvious how much she enjoyed the coloring game.

Norika ma kapott egy kompjutert amibe csak néhány egyszerű játékot töltöttünk be. A képekből kiderül, hogy mennyire élvezte a szinezős játékot.
