Tegnap is velünk volt Nórika kis barátja, Anthony. Szerencsére az idő megjavult, és így el tudtunk menni az Állatkertbe. Anthony az úton minden közlekedési táblára felhívta a figyelmet – színek, számok, betűk és nyilak bennük-, és tanított nekünk egy új játékot: amikor híd alatt mentünk át mindig le kellett gyorsan húzni a fejünket. Az Állatkertben pedig minden állatnál megnézte az információs táblájukat és bejelentette, hogy melyik földrészen laknak.
Mindkettőjüknek a látogatás két csúcspontja az uzsonnázás és az állatos körhinta volt.

Yesterday we enjoyed Anthony’s company again. We got lucky with the weather and we were able to go to the Zoo. On the way there Anthony pointed out and explained every traffic sign – colors, numbers, letters and arrows in them-, and he taught us a new game: every time we drove under a bridge we had to dunk our heads. At the Zoo Anthony looked at every animals’ information board and announced what continent they live on.
The 2 most favorite part of yesterday’s visit for both kiddos were having snack and riding the carousel.

Az első uzsonna / First snack time

Tegnap este Nóri hírtelen eltünt, majd egy fésűvel a kezében jelent meg és elkezdett engem fésülgetni. Legalább 10 percig csinálta, nagy odafigyeléssel, majd az apjától megkérdezte angolul:
- Daddy, amikor nagy leszek lehetek egy fésűs lány?
- Persze hogy lehetsz. És kit fogsz fésülni?
- Anyut, téged és Anthony-t (egy kisfiút, aki ma itt volt nálunk játszani.)

Ez volt a harmadik foglalkozás ami Nórinak eszébe jutott; általában tanár és orvos szeretne lenni.

Last night Nora suddenly disappeared, then she showed up with a comb and started coming my hair. She did it for at least 10 minutes with a lot of concentration, then she asked her dad:
- Daddy, when I grow up can I be a comber girl?
- Yes, you can. And whose hair will you comb?
- Mommy’s, yours and Anthony’s ( a little friend who spent the day with us.)

This was the third profession so far Nora has come up with for her future. She usually wants to be a teacher and a doctor.

Ma itt volt nálunk egész nap Nóri egyik osztálytársa, Anthony. Ő egy hónappal fiatalabb mint Nóri és nagyon sok mindenben hasonlítanak egymásra (többek között abban, hogy az ő anyukája is európai, lengyel). Nagyon szépen játszottak együtt egész nap, sőt még pihentek is együtt délután ami Nórinak a legjobban tetszett; beraktam két hálózsákot Nóri hálószobájába a földre és ott “kempingeztek”. Nekem az tetszett a legjobban, amikor a játék konyhában Anthony főzött Nórinak, tálalt neki, majd ő is leült vele enni. Nagyon édesek voltak.

Today we had one of Nora’s classmates with us all day long. Anthony is a month younger than Nora and they have many similarities (her mom is from Europe too, Poland, just to mention one). They played very nicely together all day long and they even took a nap together which was Nora’s most favorite part of the day; I put 2 sleeping bags in Nora’s bedroom and they “camped out”. My favorite moment was when Anthony cooked for Nora in the play kitchen, served her, then he sat down too to eat with her. They were really cute.

Hogy mit szeretek felszedni a földről? Természetesen minden szemetet és mindent ami mozog. Szorgos kis bogár és más állat gyűjtő vagyok, és azért legtöbbször az állatok túlélik a velem töltött néhány percet, vagy órát. Legtöbbször …
Ma például anyu ültetett a kertben. A felásott földben találtam két kukacot – az egyik kicsi volt, a másik nagy. Biztos a nagy volt az anyuka. A múltkor teljesen véletlenül kétfelé ment a giliszta teste amit simogattam, így ma anyu azt mondta, hogy csak nézzem őket. Néztem is, addig amíg anyu el nem fordult. Akkor úgy döntöttem, hogy biztosan unatkozik az a kukac a földben és megszántam. Elvittem őt …. hintázni. Rátettem a hintára és képzeljétek mit csinált a hálátlan állat! Rákakilt a hintámra!!! Hát kukacot se fogok még egyszer meghintáztatni!

What do I like to pick up from the ground? All the trash and everything that moves. I am a great bug and other creatures collector, and most of the time the animals survive their encounter and with me. Most of the time ….
Today Mommy was planting in the garden, and I found two earthworms in the soil. One was long, the other one was little – that must have been the baby. Last time I was holding a worm it accidentally broke into 2 parts while I was stroking it. So mommy told me that I should only watch these. I did …. until mommy turned away. Then I decided, that the worm must be very bored in the ground and I felt sorry for it. I picked it up and took it to …… my swing. I put it on the swing and guess what the ungrateful animal did! It pooped on my swing!!! I am never again swinging an earthwork again!

Van néhány műsor a TV-ben amit együtt szeretünk nézni: a dzsungel show (Túlélők), táncos és énekes műsorok, és a legjobban a főző műsorokat szeretjük. Ezek nem csak érdekesek nézni, hanem Mark sokszor ötleteket is merít belőlük és a hétvégén meglep minket valami finomsággal. Sőt, a nyári utunkat is azért terveztük San Diego, Kaliforniába, mert az egyik ilyen műsorban egy nagyon jól kinéző kis éttermet mutattak be, amit feltétlenül ki szeretnénk próbálni.
Tegnap késő délután Nóri megkérdezte:
- Daddy, nézhetünk egy főző műsort?
- Igen. Melyiket szeretnéd?
- A Bobby Flay-t (az egyik kedven szakácsunk). De egy olyat, amiben grillezik.

A főzés úgy látszik, hogy nálunk családi hagyomány lesz.

There are a few shows on TV which we watch together: “the jungle show” (Survivor), some singing and dancing shows, but our most favorites are the cooking channel shows. These are not only entertaining, but Mark loves to experiment with some of the recipes and he surprises us with great weekend meals. We have also decided to spend some days in San Diego this coming summer because we watched a show about great looking restaurant which we would like to try out.
Last night Nora asked:
- Daddy, can we watch a cooking show?
- Yes, we can. Which one would you like to watch?
- One with Bobby Flay. Where he BBQs.

Cooking is going to be one of our whole family’s favorite passions.

A nyári szünetünk első napját azzal ünnepeltük meg, hogy valami olyat csináltunk amire az év közben nem igazán jutott idő. Perecet sütöttünk. Tekintsétek meg a képes beszámolónkat.

We celebrated the first day of summer break with something that we haven’t really had time for during the school year. We baked pretzels. Please look at our picture diary.

Here is the recipe we used:

In a large bowl combine 1 1/2 tsp live active yeast with 1 1/2 cups 110 degree water, 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar and dash of salt. Let sit 5 minutes.
Add 4 cups flour, mix well and knead for 5 minutes.
Put in greased bowl and cover with damp towel and let sit 1 hour in a warm place.
Divide into 16 pieces. Roll into rope and shape, dip into 1/4 cup warm water that has 1 tablespoon baking soda mixed in.
Bake at 500 degrees for 8-9 minutes.
Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with kosher salt, with cinnamon-sugar, or Parmesan cheese and garlic salt and you can also serve it with marinara sauce.

Ugyanis ők semmit sem felejtenek el. Aztán bajban lehetsz.
Múlt vasárnap reggel Nóri átkéredzkedett a szomszédunkhoz aki éppen ültetett. Átment hozzá és segített locsolni a frissen elültetett növényeket. Mikor hazajött, azt mondta:
- Susie néni most elment a templomba. Azt mondta, hogy 5 percet lesz ott és 10 perc múlva hazajön. Akkor visszamehetek hozzá és süteményt fogunk sütni.

Nem igazán tudtuk, hogy miként mondjuk meg Nórinak, hogy valószínűleg nem lesz abból aznap sütizés. Ő persze egész nap nézegette, hogy mikor látja meg újra a szomszédunkat. Amikor este meglátta, szaladt a kerítéshez:
- Susie néni, megjöttél a templomból, jövök hozzád sütni.
Az eset javítása érdekében Nóri igéretet kapott, hogy pénteken (azaz hogy ma) este sütnek majd. Ez meg is történt, és a szomszédunknak ez egy jó lecke volt arra, hogy mit igér meg legközelebb Nórinak.

Children just simply don’t forget anything. And that can get you in trouble.
Last Sunday morning Nora asked our neighbor if she would let her go visit her. They then spent some time together planting and watering flowers. When Nora came home, she said:
- Ms. Susie is going to the church for 5 minutes, and she will be at home in ten minutes. When she comes home I can go back to her and we will bake cookies.

We didn’t really know how to tell her that most probably this was not going to happen. Nora kept looking over to our neighbors backyard to see when Ms. Susie was coming home. When she finally saw her late afternoon she ran to the fence and said:
- Ms. Susie, you came home from the church. Can I come over now to bake the cookies?
To help the situation a little bit, our neighbor promised Nora that they could bake the following Friday (today) and they did. This was a great lesson for Ms. Susie about what she should or shouldn’t tell a preschool age child.

Today Mark watched Nora all day long so that I could do preparations for the upcoming Hungary trip. When I came home late afternoon he told me the following story:
Nora was running with an almost empty Nesquick container, fell and spilled the cocoa powder. Then looked at Mark and told him, that our dog took the box from her, opened it and spilled it. And she confirmed this to him again even though he had seen the whole thing happen, and the story was the same for me too. Watch out for our little lier!!!

Ma Mark maradt otthon Nórival hogy a közeledő magyarországi utunkra tudjak készülődni. Amikor késő délután hazatértem, Mark a következő történettel várt engem:
Nóri futott egy már majdnem üres kakaóporos dobozzal, elesett és kiömlött a kakaópor. Ránézett Markra és azt mondta neki, hogy a kutyusunk vette el tőle a dobozt, kinyitotta és kiöntötte belőle a kakaót. Mark rákérdezésére elismételte ugyanazt a történetet, holott Mark látta az egészet történni, és délután nekem is ugyanazt mondta Nóri. Vigyázzatok a kis hazudós lanyunkkal!!!

Last night the finalists of a dancing show received a bouque of flowers each. Nora liked it and asked Mark if she could get flowers too. When Mark came home today he asked Nora to do a little dance for him and she got some gorgeous flowers.

Tegnap este egy tanc verseny nyertesei egy-egy viragcsokrot kaptak, ami nagyon tetszett Norinak. Megkerdezte Marktol, hogy o is kaphat-e. Ma Mark kerte, hogy tancoljon o is egy kicsit es azert egy gyonyoru csokor viragot kapott Nori.

We had a gorgeous spring day today and I decided to start the vegetable garden.  After the initial preparations Nora joined me and together we planted peas and later I planted some other seeds.  She then helped Daddy finish dinner and they enjoyed a relaxing hot tubbing.   Pictures.

Egy gyonyoru tavaszi napunk volt ma, igy elkezdtem a vetemenyes kertben dolgozni.  Nori is segitett borsot ultetni, majd az apukajanak segitett a vacsit befejezni, vegul a jacuzziban pihentek ki a megerolteto napot.  Fenykepek.
